Opportunities for Young People
Information for young people and their supporters
Equity Works has received funding to run a pilot project on the Sunshine Coast through to June 2024.
The project is called HERE NOW NEXT.
The project is co-designed with and co-led by young people with disability.
The vision of the Here Now Next (HNN) project is to find real, meaningful, and sustainable open employment for young people with disability using peer work mentors, person led career planning and building upon established community relationships and networks.
The project aims to work with 25 young people with disabilities who are between the ages of 14 and 24 who are interested in thinking about and finding work.
The project aims to use principles of Discovery to achieve a deep understanding of the person's interests and skills as well as their ideal conditions of employment. Work pathways will be explored on the completion of the Discovery process.

We will talk to you and/or your supporters about your work goals and interests and together we’ll decide if the project is a good fit for you at this stage. Your participation in this project may depend on:
- Your interest in finding paid work in open employment (minimum award wages)
- Your availability to work
- Capacity to travel to work or openness to explore transport option
Once HERE NOW NEXT team has supported you to develop your personalised work profile we will join you in learning more about the work that happens in your local community and look for suitable work opportunities, where your skills and interests are valued by an employer - creating an opportunity for Customised Employment.
Does it Cost anything to be part of the project?
As HERE NOW NEXT project is funded through the government during the pilot period, there is no cost.
Does everyone get a job?
The HERE NOW NEXT team will do our best to support all participants to increase their chances of finding employment. We cannot promise that everyone will find a job through the project. It is important to keep other employment avenues open to maximise your chances of finding work.
