  • A Fair Day Out 2017

    Published in Events

Come and celebrate Spring at A Fair Day Out 2017.  A FREE community event at Eumundi Markets on Saturday 28th October 2017.

A Fair Day Out celebrates inclusive communities and is a wonderful creative expression for people with disabilities.  The agenda of this day is all about FUN! It is a great day to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.  Our busy lifestyles mean that sometimes we don't get time to get together and enjoy each other's company - A Fair Day Out is a chance to do that!  This year marks the 5th year of A Fair Day Out and a great time to check it out if you have not been before.

Lots of free games and activities to participate in for the whole family – prizes for egg and spoon races and sack races.

The hub of the event will be at the Eumundi Amphitheatre with stalls run by people with disability using the Original Eumundi Markets' philosophy of 'make it, bake it, sew it, grow it', as well as free art and craft activities for children + a Come and Try tent with lots of fun activities to try for the first time

The Amphitheatre Stage will see entertainment from 10am - 2pm - a blend of performances including dance, music and more.

The day is organised with volunteer and professional support by five Sunshine Coast NFP disability support organisations - Equity Works, SCILS, Spiral, Parent to Parent and Inclusion Plus Family Support.  Together these organisations support over 800 people with disabilities and their families on the Sunshine Coast.

On Wednesday March 9th 2017, Equity Works gathered this dynamic group of women together (from left Martine, Kathryn, Sarah, Jamie, and Nicole) to address a group of Sunshine Coast business people on the topic of Celebrating Ability, Creating Equity.  Our speakers eloquently shared their stories and focussed in on the particular area of how their disability has contributed to their experiences, choices, challenges, and aspirations in the areas of employment, careers, business innovation and entrepreneurship.

We are pleased to acknowledge that this event was supported by the Queensland Government and YWCA Queensland through their Queensland Women's Week grants program.

  • Disability Action Week

    Published in News & Events

Disability Action Week saw Equity Works take to the fields with the wonderful players and supporters of the Nambour Yandina United Soccer Club.  Sometimes the spur of the moment gatherings work the best and in the week leading up to Disability Action Week, 13-19 September a flurry of activity saw Equity Works staff member Hannah bring together an event that was great fun for all participants!

On the afternoon of Thursday the 15th, we came together at the home grounds of the club and had a great time learning new skills, enjoying each other's company, and for some, discovering new talents.

An hour or so of creative soccer drills and challenges worked up an appetite and a sausage sizzle was a great way to end the afternoon.  Thank you to Hannah and her club mates for creating this us and thank you to Will, Max, Brandon, Hayden, and Damon for making it a super afternoon.  We are looking forward to the creating more partnerships with this talented and friendly group of folk!
